Panera is my comfort food haven

During deployment, and managing the solo parenting gig, it’s hard to evenly disperse myself between all three children. The girls get me all day long while my son is in school, but when he comes home I’m then dividing myself between three children. He never really gets me all to himself. So, when I can I try to do date nights that are just for he and I so I can give him some of that quality one-on-one time.

Recently I took my son on a date night to Parera Bread. At home, one of his favorite meals is grilled cheese and tomato soup so I knew this would be a real treat for him. For me, soup is THE ultimate comfort food and Panera, in my opinion, has the best soups.

A few nights prior I checked out Parera’s online soup menu so that I could see which evening each soup is served and plan our trip accordingly. Tomato soup is served on a Monday, and since tomato and grilled cheese is my little man’s favorite, and mine as well, our date night was planned.

There is nothing to not love about Panera. The atmosphere is always enjoyable. The employees are always helpful and friendly, and of course the food is always delicious! This was my sons first time there, and he was pretty impressed. He sat on his side of the booth, feeling like such a big guy. When our dinner arrived, a cup of tomato soup for each of us and a Big Kid Grilled Cheese for me, and a regular grilled cheese for my date, he dug right in dipping both the little loaf of bread and his sandwich in his soup. It was a fabulous dinner and a great way to spend some quality, one-on-one time with my son.

I’m really not sure if Panera even has a soup that I don’t love. No matter what day of the week I walk in there, a delicious and soothing soup is ready and waiting for me with a friendly smile serving it to me. Instant comfort.
