my husband does ____ better than me

dearest love of mine. i know you’re reading this. let me just say this to you. i’m a big enough person that i can admit this, and am doing so without being asked. i found this topic as a writing prompt and immediately this thing you can do better than me popped in my head. so, i thought i would share. i’m admitting this publicly. please just take this moment in with grace. no need to rub it in or gloat. no need to ever discuss this out loud. thank you ~ your loving wife

I try to give my husband credit where credit is due. I tell him all the time he’s a better parent than I am. Why? Because he doesn’t have the anxiety issues I have. He’s always able to keep his cool, and makes everything look easy. And, he is usually quick to argue and point out all of the wonderful things that I can do. We usually go back and forth and end in the agreement that we both love our children to the ends of the universe and back, and our strengths make us a great team.

We do not agree on who the better griller is. I swear, one of these weekends we are going to have an actual grill-off with each other. Anyone want to come and judge?

There is, though, one thing I will tell you that my husband does better than me that he will probably not argue me on. He shouldn’t. He really is better. Sure, I’m still good. He’s just better. Ready?
*deep breath*

My husband is a better driver than me.

I’m serious about this. Yes, I’m a good driver. I’m cautious, and probably more defensive than offensive. I usually drive at least 5 over the limit, maybe more, when I’m on the interstate. In town I’m pretty spot on to the limit. So what makes him better? haha I don’t know. He just is! He can drive anything. He can makes driving our massive Dodge 2500 look easy. He makes parking it look easy. He’s got great reflexes, and doesn’t ever seem to get nervous, though he’ll be the first to admit that he hates traffic. I don’t know, he can just handle any vehicle with ease. He’s always impressed me. Sometimes he makes me crazy when he’s behind the wheel, but that’s partly because I have slight control tendencies and think certain things should be done my way. Well, that and sometimes he gets too close to another cars ass for my comfort. Hey, I didn’t say he’s a perfect driver. I just said he’s better than me.

Although…. I’m not really a bad driver. I’m a good driver. And, I can do some pretty dang good parallel parking. And, I’m pretty sure I’ve had less accidents AND tickets than my husband. As a matter of fact, I’ve also been driving the truck quite a bit during this deployment and I’ve been parking it like a champ! My anxieties behind the wheel? Pretty minimal, to tell you the truth. Seems like during the last 6 months I’ve actually found quite a bit of peace and tranquility behind the wheel. Now that I’m thinking of it, I don’t think I’ve felt my nerves pang up once. Traffic? Pish posh! Bring it on.

huh…. maybe I need to think this over and give this a second look. I might actually be the better driver here.
Ok. Husband of mine, you are TOTALLY a better go-kart driver than me.

(and, I still say you rock the parenting. You’re an amazing father with an astounding amount of patience. You’re a wonderful teacher with more knowledge than I alone would ever be able to pass on. Yeah, you’re pretty dang awesome. I couldn’t have chosen a better man. Also? Can you please teach our son to tie his shoes? I suck at it and I’m waiting for you to come home and handle this for me.)

This is hilarious because I think I am the better driver hands down in our house, but my husband would disagree. Granted I am a little more liberal on the gas pedal, but…. As for parenting, he wins there. I homeschool so by the end of the day my fun meter is pegged and my patience is out the window. He is the more patient of the 2 of us. I cook better. He writes amazing. I ice skate and rollerskate better. He blows me away in any other sport. I started doing yoga and he is doing headstands now arghhhhh!!!! It’s all good :)

This post totally made me smile. And I never thought about who is a better drive between the two of us, but my husband always insists I drive when we go anywhere but I think that’s pretty much because he’s stuck in the car on his long commute and has nothing to do with how I drive. ; )

And, sign me up for that grilling challenge. I’m happy to judge.

Thank you! It was fun to write. With as quick as his mind works, he probably is the better driver. But he’s got a lot of little quirks that drive me nuts haha.

And yay for a judge!! ;)

I am a way better driver than my husband. He’s either driving 30 mph or 130 mph. It drives me nuts!

My husband is way better at dealing with other peoples kids than I am. Not only is he better, he’s really good at it!

    This is hilarious!

First, I would love to be the BBQ grilling judge.

Second, my husband drives like an 85 year old man on the road. I win there.

On a go-kart course? He’s Mario Andretti and takes me out. So, whatever.

    Cute post.

Depends on who you ask in my house. He would for sure say he is the better driver. I wouldn’t agree :)

And now you make me curious…. I wonder if there’s anything, if I asked my husband, that he would admit to me doing better. ;)
