My #7Things post last week talked about what I was going to do to get US MOMS ready for school to start. I prepped. I planned. And I made it through the first week. Although I probably could have stood to drink a little more wine. haha!
Every morning I walked my son to school, which was great! We found many helicopter leaves on the ground, and had fun seeing which ones would still fly; which ones twirled faster or slower than the others. We stepped in the dewy grass, and watched our footsteps fade on the concrete as we walked along the sidewalk. We’ve crunched leaves. The few that have fallen to the ground and dried out. And? This makes me yearn for Fall.
Autumn is my favorite season of them all. I love the cool, crisp mornings, the changing colors of the leaves (though it’s not as pretty in SoCal as I’ve seen in other states), the new smell in the air, and all the fun that comes with the season.
So this week, I share with you 7 things I’m looking forward to most this Fall:
- Fall baking/cooking. Warm apple pie, with a dutch crumble topping, pumpkin rolls with cream cheese filling, pumpkin bread, and .
- Fires in the evenings. So cozy!! It’s just been too warm to have them lately. I love sitting around the fire pit with a glass of wine or a Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale.
- FOOTBALL!!! I’m ready! Sunday, Monday, Thursday…. you’ll find us holed up in the living room, with some yummy football snacks spread out on tv trays. Or at a local restaurant that’s showing the game.
- Letter writing. Don’t ask me why, but there’s something about Fall that makes me want to sit down and write letters to my friends.
- Cozy socks on my feet. No, I won’t say goodbye to my flip flops, especially while we’re still living on Camp Pendleton, but I looooooooove wearing my cozy socks around the house.
- Boots, boots, boots, BOOTS!!! I mean, need I say more?
-
HOODIES!! This is my favorite thing to wear in the Fall and Winter, and I’m really hoping we PCS soon, because I think I can count on one hand the number of times I wore a hoodie last year. Heart breaking!! I did, though, wear flannels quiet a bit, which is a good close second.
And? This hoodie I’ll be adding to my closet very soon. I probably say that at least once a week, which makes it pretty much perfect for me. (bonus point…. who can name that movie??)
Now if the seasons could just hurry up and change. We’re in August, though, so I know it’ll happen soon enough. In the meantime, I was wondering – What is your favorite soup? Or Autumn recipe? Share in the comments pretty please? (I’ll pin your links to my )
I live in tropical weather year round, so you’ve made Fall sound so awesome, I am kinda envious
to be honest, where I’m at I don’t get much of Fall. It FEELS like I get about a week of Fall, and then we move into winter. With that said, Winter in SoCal is like Fall in the midwest. HA! But we should be moving soon to the East Coast where we’ll get more season changes.
Homemade vegetable beef soup is my favorite. One of my daughters makes a great corn chowder. And we like Chili too.
I wish I liked vegetables enough to like those soups. I love chili, but mine is basic compared to most other recipes. I do, though, love the smell and taste of vegetable soup (I just spoon the veggies out of my bowl).
Pumpkin pie & football are what I love most about fall!! I really love all of the pumpkin pie flavored treats that they have everywhere!
Oh I love pumpkin. I love the taste and smell, and LOVE decorating with pumpkin as well. I have ceramic pumpkins, and always love to buy the mini pumpkins to put around the house.
