Yoga at home with

I’m not a gym-goer. I never really have been. Years ago, when I was first married to my husband and he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, I worked in a gym. And while I was there I went ahead and worked out. I’ve also worked at a Curves before. Again, working out since I was already there. Other than that, I think I can count the number of times I’ve actually taken my inflated rear to the gym.
I’m much better at getting my workouts in at home.

And I’ve been getting my yoga on at home with this app a friend referred to me. Yoga Studio. Yoga is something I’ve been wanting to get back into for a loooooooooooooooooong time. It’s been too long since I’ve made it a part of my daily routine. We’re talking years. And, again I’m not going to sink money into a yoga gym/studio membership when I know I won’t get my money’s worth out of it.

You can create the perfect yoga session, where ever you want!, with Yoga Studio AppWhy I L.O.V.E. this app:

  • I can do this at home. I can do yoga at the beach. I can do yoga in the park. I can use this app where ever I want to, and am not limited to a ‘membership’ or studio location.
  • Each pose is fully explained – you are told what pose to do and the app instructor does the pose, so you can see and hear it all in action. Also, there are over 280 poses to choose from.
  • There are several sessions already prepared. you just decided what level you are at, and what your focus is. As it’s been a while since I’ve done yoga, currently I’m at a beginner level working on flexibility and beginner strength.
  • I can choose/download/delete what I want and don’t want. – Your session is done kind of video like. I’ve never seen an app quite like this. Naturally, this would take up a lot of MB’s on your phone. But this app allows you to download only the sessions that you want, and not forcing you to take everything.
  • I can create my own session, pose by pose, and it ties together smoothly. You just go to ‘Classes’ then to ‘My Classes’ and start creating your own Custom Class. Pick all your favorite poses, or maybe just single out the ones you know you need a little more work on. It’s completely up to YOU!
  • I can schedule my sessions. The app syncs with my phones calendar and automatically adds in the sessions I schedule. I can even set them up to repeat daily, and then I’ve already got them blocked out on my calendar. This really helps when wanting to make fitness a priority.
  • It’s not annoying. No icky computerized voice that sounds off-pitched or choppy. And I get my choice of background music/sounds.
  • Cost effective. You get all this, for $2.99. So if you buy the app and (like me) happen to not actually start using it for a few months, then you’re not going to feel overly guilty over your purchase.

It’s a pretty perfect for anyone who, like me, is just not a gym-goer. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try yoga, but hesitant because of studio membership costs.

    Ok Laura,
I just bought this app.. looks good so far but it is still downloading my session. I am kind of excited! I used to do yoga everyday when I was going to Respiratory school, to relax before I picked Colin up from daycare.

Unfortunately, I have barely done it at all since Delaney was born.

It did take a little time to download the sessions, and I’ve only downloaded three. (all ‘beginner’ sesh’s) I figure once I’m proficient in those I can delete those off my phone/app and download something more difficult.
And yes, it seems once more than one child comes into play it’s more difficult to make these things happen. NOT easy to juggle, but am really trying to make a better effort as well. ;) Good luck! Can’t wait to hear how you like it.

I’ve been doing Bob Harper’s Yoga for the Warrior DVD, but I might try this app for a little bit of a change. Change is good, right?

I KNOW!!! I’m really bummed about that, and am hoping that they do have it available for Droid/Google devices soon, as I don’t see me keeping my iphone too much longer. (but we do have an ipad that I’ll use this app on)
