An extremely late post about my first tweetup

Yep, the tweetup cherry’s been popped! LOL When? Well… a while ago. What can I say, I’ve been busy lately and slightly fizzled out so I’ve been slow on the postings. Where? At a La Jolla Chiropractor office.

So what’s so great about a tweetup? Well, it depends on the purpose of it. They can be for whatever, but usually based on finding out about the host and or their business and then helping to promote it. Of course, to entice the tweeter or blogger to come and participate, the host usually offers something in exchange for efforts. No, not like money, but more like woo’ing and wowing type stuff. And this one? Definitely Wow’d me! In 3 different ways.

1. I walk in and meet Tim, the master marketer for who was also the one who invited me to this event. Next I see one of my IRL friends, Chronically Distracted. Good. Always nice to see a familiar face when surfing a new crowd. But? That’s the beauty of these things. We’re all a bit familiar with each other already. I know everyone here, either by the twitteratti who I follow/follows me or by the blogs that they write. Some show their faces in avatars or bio’s, but if not it’s no big deal. After you’ve been twitchatting with someone, or reading and commenting on their blog for a while you begin to feel like you know them. Even if it’s just a little bit. Well, I felt like I was among celebrities. I mean, real ones? Probably not, but to me these people are great writers. And I love reading my favorite writers. If I had a day where I could just dive in to posts and never come up for air these are all some of who would be on my reading list. With that said, next I meet a freelance writer who I’ve been a longtime fan of, San Diego Momma. So, not only is she a fabulous writer, but a pretty rockin’ chick all together. She had on this fabulous pink/coral top which made me think of the beach all night. It also made me realize my wardrobe currently sucks. Moving on, and trying not to make this post too long, I meet the rest of the crew one by one. Red Lotus Mama, Surfer Wife, Bloggoneit, Little Hen House, and, of course, the host of the evening himself, Dr. Klein. Or DK. (but more about him later) These ladies? Not only great writers but gorgeous too. Little Hen House completely rocked the sleeveless summer dress. Deep down you almost want to hate her but you just can’t. She’s also really sweet. Ok, well… again in my attempt to not drag this on too long I’ll stop gushing over who I met.

2. Ok. So the next great thing about this night and being invited to a tweetup that really makes me crave more was the food. Seriously?? If they are all like this then sign me up!!!! I can’t even begin to explain to you how high on cloud 9 my IFK was. Shrimp cocktail, [super scrumfabulous] sushi, mochi, and some crazy delish wine that I sadly have to admit I can’t remember the name to. But, it was all good. Like the 2000 New Years Eve ball droppin’ party in my mouth good. Foodie in sushi heaven good.

3. Lastly, and probably the most important beni of the night, was the knowledge I got to walk away with. Dr. Klein is not only a spinal tapping guru at his San Diego Chiropractic office, he’s also an SEO genius. And I soaked up as much as my little brain could handle. It was hard too, because the behind the scenes internet mumbo jumbo is pretty beyond me. But he made it make sense. Even gave some tips and strategies.

So, in my first tweepup I meet blogging celebrities, eat myself silly with crazy good sushi and other yummy stuff, and walk away with knowledge. I’d say it was an extremely successful evening. And… now… I feel guilty for being completely spoiled and not posting about the evening sooner. [shame on me]

And, #LJTweetup tweeps, if you’re reading, it was so great to meet all of you!!!
(p.s. it’s after midnight so if this post reads crappy like an over-tired, carbohydrate deprived lady wrote this…. umm, well I did. sorry. lol)

Great write up Laura. It was so nice meeting you and all the other ladies. You are so right though. Once you start talking to someone on twitter it is like you actually know them. Normally I would have been much more nervous meeting a whole group of people but I felt really comfortable at that tweetup.

Glad you learned a lot, made some great friends, and loved the food!

It was Falkner Winery, http://www.falknerwinery.com/ and let us not forget that as a result of this event, semperfimomma.blogspot.myblog.hereitis.blogspot.com became simply, semperfimomma.com which is so much more elegant. :) We still owe you a chiropractic visits as well :)
