Did you know that yesterday was Military Spouse Appreciation Day? If not, you’re not alone. Yesterday I was baking cookies, had all of my ingredients in the mixing bowl and realized I was out of eggs. So, I skipped over to my neighbors house and asked if I could borrow two eggs. We chatted briefly and as I headed out the door I turned to her and said ‘Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day hun!’ She looked at me like I was an alien. Ok, maybe not that dramatic, but definitely a look of confusion. ‘When is that?’ So I told her, she smiled, returned the same wishes, and away I went.

I never knew this day existed till this year. It was nice to read on other blogs and on facebook that this day is taken seriously by military posts. As a retired spouse I appreciate what you younger wives are going through right now. As I keep your DH's in my prayers I always include you and the sacrifice you are making each day. Keep up the good work ladies and know that what you are doing matters.

I didn't forget and neither did my base but I was working and they did a "day" event so us spouses who worked couldn't attend! But at least the base did something!
