Burnt Maple Ribbons don’t actually taste burnt, I just call them that because that’s close to what it looks like you’re doing to the maple syrup, and because that’s almost what it smells like when it’s ready to pour.
This is easy to make, and is great to decorate your Autumn desserts with. Ready?
Pour some 100% REAL maple syrup in a saucepan.
Bring it to a boil.
Let it get nice a bubbly.
When it looks like this, you’re just about done.
Soon after the thick, bubbly stage it’ll start to smell burnt. Give it a few more stirs, and then pour it out onto wax. Let it drip in little dots, or pour it in fun swirls. Once it cools you’ll be able to break off the pieces as you need them and dress up any dessert. This adds a nice touch, and goes great with something savory.
And here’s a few pieces in the delish pumpkin custard I made this weekend.
Very cool and the pumpkin custard sounds yummy!
